Delbert Dale

Delbert Dale was respected and admired worldwide as a trumpet virtuoso and music educator.

A native of Indianapolis, Dale performed with leading bands and orchestras in America and Japan. His book, Trumpet Technique, is used by students and teachers all over the world.

In 1987, after retirement from active performing, Dale founded the Indianapolis Brass Choir. His vision was to create an all-volunteer ensemble to challenge talented performers and satisfy audiences. More importantly, Dale's vision was to create a group that would raise funds for local and national charities by taking freewill offerings at its concerts.

Under Dale's leadership, the IBC began performing in Indianapolis and raising funds for designated charities. Dale's death in 1992 marked a legacy of music and giving that has continued into the 21st century.
